A strong school system where all students achieve success is the foundation of a dynamic community, and our area is no exception. Our Northwest Metroport region benefits from outstanding school programs and is served by several public school districts, a public charter school and a private school.
Northwest Independent School District (NISD) is one of the largest school districts in the area at 234 square miles and spans three counties (Tarrant, Denton, and Wise) and 14 municipalities. NISD operates 18 elementary schools, six middle schools, three comprehensive high schools and one accelerated high school. With the addition of an estimated 1,200 students during summer months and continued growth, total student enrollment now exceeds 24,000. Argyle Independent School District (AISD) is a public school district based in Argyle, Texas, recognized for high academic and athletic performance and a strong community-based culture. The demographic projection for the 2018-19 year is 2,976, which represents a 10.39% increase. Westlake Academy is owned and operated by the Town of Westlake and offers all three programs of the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum - Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. More than 850 students attend the K – 12 grade academy, which is operated as a Texas public charter school.
