(ROANOKE, TX, Dec 3, 2019) The Northwest Metroport Chamber of Commerce announced a new name and unveiled a new logo for its organization at its December 3 Membership Luncheon. The seven-community chamber will now be known as Metroport Chamber.
With roots as the Roanoke Business Association, the chamber incorporated as the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce in 1988. The chamber expanded in the early 1990s with the inclusion of the Town of Trophy Club and the Town of Westlake and was known as the Roanoke Trophy Club Westlake Chamber of Commerce for many years.
In 2003, the City of Haslet and the Town of Northlake joined the chamber, and the non-profit organization was renamed the Northwest Metroport Chamber of Commerce. The term ‘Metroport’ refers to the metropolitan region between DFW Airport and Alliance Airport. The City of Justin joined in 2004 followed by the Town of Argyle in 2015.
Over the years, the name has organically transitioned to the shorter Metroport Chamber by members of the business community. The Chamber will officially embrace this new name on January 1.
