We strive to preserve the unique, eclectic, small town charm in the Downtown area using smart, selective growth. We work to maintain the current low tax rate while adding additional amenities throughout the City to benefit residents, businesses and visitors. 


DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHTS 
The City of Roanoke mixed-use project within the Downtown area has truly come to life. The Roanoke City Center is now home to Roanoke’s new City Hall, as well as residential lofts, the City’s first brownstone homes, new retail and a parking garage. The center will also be adding a 250 plus room Peabody Hotel, convention center, a family entertainment center, additional retail and upscale office space. This will add to the already thriving shopping, dining and entertainment destination Roanoke has become.

We have a state-of-the-art, 15,000-square-foot Library that is occupied daily with hundreds of residents and guests. Our Recreation Center provides many programs for small children up to our seniors. Roanoke is second to none as a destination. We continue to attract "Unique" restaurants. The City of Roanoke is still one of the lowest combined property tax rates in the state, with more to offer than most small communities in our area. 

Economic development is a catalyst for creating jobs, providing necessary amenities, improving quality of life and fueling the economy of surrounding areas.
