The Cade Hotel & Convention Center Breaks Ground in Roanoke

A major new development is taking shape in downtown Roanoke as the Cade Hotel by Hilton and a new city-owned convention center officially broke ground on October 7, 2026.
Located at 600 S. Oak Street, the project represents a significant investment in Roanoke’s future and is expected to bring new opportunities for tourism, business events, conferences, celebrations and economic development throughout the community and the greater Metroport region.
A New Destination for Roanoke
The Cade Hotel will be a full-service boutique hotel featuring 205 guest rooms, along with an outdoor pool, restaurant, lobby bar/lounge and additional amenities. The development will also include approximately 11,377 square feet of meeting space, creating new options for businesses, organizations and visitors looking to host events in the area.

The adjacent convention center will be owned by the City of Roanoke, while the hotel will be privately owned and operated by Hilton. Together, the two projects are designed to create a destination capable of attracting visitors while providing additional space for meetings, conferences, special events and celebrations.
Construction is already underway, with initial site work beginning in August. The project is currently expected to be completed in 2028.
Investing in Roanoke's Future
The hotel and convention center have been years in the making, and the groundbreaking marks an important milestone for the community.
Roanoke voters approved a $62 million bond in May 2025 to help fund construction of the convention center. The project is also supported through Texas' Qualified Hotel Project program, which allows eligible projects to receive rebates of certain state hotel occupancy and sales taxes.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Roanoke Mayor Scooter Gierisch highlighted the perseverance and community support that helped bring the project from an idea to construction.
The development is expected to help generate additional activity in downtown Roanoke by attracting visitors, creating opportunities for local businesses and supporting future development in the area.
What It Means for the Metroport Region
For the Metroport region, the Cade Hotel and convention center represent more than a new place to stay. The additional hotel rooms and meeting space can help support the region's growing business community and provide another option for organizations looking to host events close to home.
As Roanoke and the surrounding Alliance region continue to grow, developments like this create opportunities for increased tourism, business activity and collaboration across our communities.
The Cade Hotel and convention center are another exciting step in the continued growth of Roanoke and the Metroport region, and we look forward to watching this project take shape in the years ahead.
