Mayor Sean Kilbride

Town of Westlake

As the Mayor of Westlake and longtime resident, I am excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to the town I love and am proud to call home.

Our convenient location near DFW Airport and bordering highways make our Town the crown jewel of the Alliance Gateway Corridor and the DFW region. As one of the fastest-growing metros in the nation, we must embrace and prepare ourselves for the continued growth that is certainly on its way. One of my goals as mayor is to minimize the pains of growth while maximizing the opportunities it will provide. My vision is for all of our residents to have a voice in what we become – saving what we treasure about Westlake while working together to create something special for our children and grandchildren.

As your mayor, and on behalf of the Council and dedicated staff, we remain resolute in our commitment to ensure we grow in a way that matches our values and who we are as a community. I will work hard to provide the leadership that will inspire all of those under the Town umbrella to take the necessary steps to ensure Westlake is second to none as the best place to live, work and raise our children.

COMMUNITY OVERVIEW

A Tree City USA town since 2000, Westlake is a one-of-a-kind community – a distinctive by design oasis with rolling hills and grazing longhorns, located in the heart of the Fort Worth-Dallas metropolitan area.

A comprehensive plan and supporting ordinances have allowed Westlake to maintain a strong rural character, while also accommodating office and retail campuses that house more than 13,500 global corporation employees. Our development standards have earned us a platinum class certification by the Texas Certified Scenic Cites program, one of only a few municipalities in Texas to receive this prestigious distinction.

Westlake is committed to preserving the natural beauty of the Cross Timbers region through maintaining the Town’s open spaces. The Town of Westlake balances a harmonious mix of distinctive developments, trails, and quality of life amenities amidst an ever-expanding urban landscape.

The Town of Westlake is home to a variety of neighborhoods and architectural styles. Whether you are wanting a laid-back rural neighborhood, estate lot, modern architecture, or even old European architecture, Westlake is the right choice for you.

Westlake received the first open enrollment charter ever awarded to a municipality in the state and today, the Town owns and operates one of the leading public charter schools in the nation with an enrollment of around 900 students in grades K-12. Westlake Academy is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, first opening its doors in 2003 and becoming only the fifth public school in the nation to offer all three IB programs – Primary Years, Middle Years and the Diploma Programme.

Along with Westlake Academy, residents have access to three great Independent School Districts. This gives parents the opportunity to decide on the absolute best choice for their children.

The Town of Westlake features beautiful upscale homes, a close-knit community, and a top-performing, Town-owned and operated charter school that makes Westlake an unrivaled place to call home.
