Town of Westlake
As the Mayor of Westlake and a longtime resident, I am honored to serve my community. My vision is for all our citizens and corporate partners to have a voice in what we become – saving what we treasure about Westlake while working together to create something special. As your Mayor and on behalf of the Town Council and dedicated Town and Academy staff, we remain resolute in our commitment to ensure we grow in a way that matches our values and who we are as a community.
As we welcome new residential and commercial developments, we must embrace and prepare ourselves for the continued growth that is certainly on its way. We should position ourselves so that we minimize the pains of growth while maximizing the opportunities it will provide for all of us.
As we approach the Town’s 70th anniversary of its founding in 1956, we proudly reflect on a history tracing back to our first settlers in the mid-1800s. Today, we have some of the best companies in the world to be a part of our Westlake family: Fidelity, Deloitte, Charles Schwab, Goosehead Insurance, and Century 21 Mike Bowman, Inc., which gives us 2 of the top 10 largest Tarrant County employers. Home to a variety of distinctive world-class neighborhoods, over 15 miles of well-maintained trails and water features, and beautiful European architecture, our Town has earned a platinum class certification by the Texas Certified Scenic Cities program, one of only a few municipalities to receive this prestigious distinction.
In addition to the Town’s three independent school districts, we take great pride in being the only 1 of 2 municipalities in Texas to manage a school, our nationally ranked Westlake Academy, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. A K-12 public charter school founded in 2003. Our Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP) were recently ranked by Niche top 20 in the country for Best K-12 Public School (20th) and Best Charter School K-12 (14th). Statewide, Westlake Academy ranks in the top 5 for Texas Public Charter Schools.
I will work hard to take the necessary steps to ensure Westlake is the best place to live, work, and raise our children.
LOCATION
Westlake is primarily located in Northeast Tarrant County, approximately 11 miles west of DFW International Airport and 10 miles east of Fort Worth Alliance Airport along SH 114.

Our development standards have earned us a platinum class certification by the Texas Certified Scenic Cites program, one of only a few municipalities in Texas to receive this prestigious distinction.

Westlake received the first open enrollment charter ever awarded to a municipality in the state and today, the Town owns and operates one of the leading public charter schools in the nation with an enrollment of around 900 students in grades K-12. Westlake Academy is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, first opening its doors in 2003 and becoming only the fifth public school in the nation to offer all three IB programs – Primary Years, Middle Years and the Diploma Programme.
Along with Westlake Academy, residents have access to three great Independent School Districts. This gives parents the opportunity to decide on the absolute best choice for their children.
